Professional Health Print Ad Spend Through March 2017
Advertising spend in professional health print journals reached $129 million during March 2017, a decline of 17% YoY according to Kantar Media’s Healthcare data. GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) has been going against the grain with large increases compared to the same time period last year, ranking the pharma company as the leader in spend for the entirety of Q1 2017.
The Breo Ellipta Inhaler and Jardiance Tablets each continued to increase spend generously, holding on to their top ranking placements. Tecentriq Injection was a new face in the top five. Following its recent expanded approvals for use in the U.S., Genentech began promoting the Rx for the first time.
Through the end of March, a total of 19,530.2 ad pages were purchased in professional health print journals. Inhaled Steroids saw big increases in spend and pages, while the rest of the top five declined or had minimal lifts.
