MIPAA future pioneers bursary award backed by Kantar Media
Pioneering PR practitioners have a chance to receive a Bursary Award of up to £2,000 thanks to Kantar Media’s support of a new initiative from the world’s largest network of professional motor industry communicators, MIPAA Limited.
The MIPAA Future Pioneers Bursary Award champions the discovery of new ideas by challenging young communicators to be adventurous and help improve the effectiveness of the industry.
Kantar Media and MIPAA Limited have announced a three-year partnership agreement for the project which is open to communications executives (including interns) aged under 30 working in a PR, marketing, internal communications or similar role. Full entry details will be announced at the MIPAA Kick Start “New to Motor Industry PR” workshop taking place on 27 October, via Twitter (@BursaryAward) and on a dedicated microsite: www.mipaa.co.uk/BursaryAward.
The Bursary Award was developed in memory of MIPAA’s former honorary Life President, Gethin Bradley, who got his own kick start in public relations at Land Rover sixty years ago after organising and participating in the pioneering Oxford and Cambridge Trans Africa Expedition.
MIPAA Chairman, Mike Orford, explains the ethos of the new Bursary Award: “We wanted a living legacy to celebrate Gethin’s life; something that captured his enthusiasm for motor industry PR and his passion in encouraging young people to do amazing things. He would have loved the idea of funding an adventure that offers a practical benefit to MIPAA members and helps improve the effectiveness of automotive communications.”
“Thanks to the generous support of Kantar Media, we are able to launch the Bursary Award this year. We’re also involving friends and former contacts of Gethin through an appeal to commission a perpetual Bradley Trophy and provide a fund to present keepsake mementos for the three shortlisted finalists each year.“
As Simon Hughes, Head of Insight – Automotive at Kantar Media says, the company is keen to help develop the next generation of leaders in motor industry communicators.
“Gethin had a legendary status in MIPAA and was pioneering in his approach to PR. We share this spirit at Kantar Media in supporting communicators to improve their effectiveness and evaluate the success of their work. The Bursary Award similarly champions originality, integrity and excellence in delivery of an exciting new initiative.”
