World Cup Interest

It’s no secret that the World Cup attracts millions of people from around the globe every four years. As expected, the majority of these people are also fans of football in general.

There is however a fan base for the tournament which is not necessarily into football. Here we rank 27 countries (including England, not UK) based on the size of this non-football following group. India is in first place, with 18% of non-football fans being 'extremely' or 'very interested' in the World Cup.

By contrast, in England this group is a relatively small 6% with the majority being female (54%). They are also likely to be young adults (18–24) and from a relatively affluent background (annual income of 50–100k).
