Straight Outta Love Island and Straight onto Our Leaderboards

Everyone’s favourite unofficial Love Island couple were back on our screens on Sunday, and over 320K viewers tuned in to watch Chris Hughes and Kem Cetinay pursue their passion for rap. Social TV engagement levels placed the episode in the Top Ten Broadcasts of the week.

Over 12.8K Tweets were posted about the ITV2 show on Sunday, and among the top hashtags was the boys’ catchphrase #littlebitleaveit, and celebrations of their friendship with #bromance and #Chrem. A brief insight into Chris and Olivia’s home life at 21:27 sparked the peak minute of Twitter activity for the show. Large amounts of activity came from Re-Tweets and Likes, in fact 43% of the Total Tweets were RTs, and there were over 59.5K Likes!

Notable amounts of chatter on both Twitter and Facebook jokingly compared the duo to acts on this series on the Xfactor. The two platforms also shared a similar demographic balance when looking at engagement, with 72.1% of Tweets and 81.5% of Facebook Interactions connected to Female accounts. 

It’s clear that Twitter’s infatuation with the 2017 Love Island contenders is long-lasting, as Chris and Kem’s rapping documentary contributed 4.38% of all Social TV chatter on Sunday.
