Fall advertising efforts begin with Thursday night football
Did you have a chance to watch the start of the NFL season last Thursday? If so, then you probably noticed a ton of never-before-seen commercials from huge brands. According to the New York Times,
some of the biggest names in marketing introduced ads during the Thursday game.
I thought the most memorable one was from GE with their "Boy Who Beeps." While the ad kept me captivated for its almost two-minute run, I really could not figure out which brand was behind the gimmick. GE made perfect sense though. The spot was created by GE's agency BBDO New York and is part of its fall campaign for "Language of Industry."
While the first Thursday night game was televised on NBC, going forward Thursday games will be on CBS. The station is seeking more than half a million dollars for a 30-second spot in its broadcasts, and it will be interesting to see which brands will pony up.
