About 90% of online adults research health and wellness information, according to Kantar Media’s 2013 Online Behavior Study.
Among those, 69% said that their reason for conducting health research online in 2013 was to gain knowledge about a condition, while three in five said the reason was to research symptoms. Both of these figures have increased by a few percentage points compared to last year’s study. Further, more adults are also going online to find alternative medications to treat symptoms.
The study also found that 7 out of 10 health researchers use social media activities.
