Emotional Britain's Got Talent Audition Drives Twitter Activity!

The celebrity special of Gogglebox hosting, among others, Jeremy Corbyn, Ed Sheeran and Liam Gallagher on their sofas brought Tweeters in front of their tellies and created 28.5K Tweets across the day!

The special episode in support of Stand Up To Cancer lifted #standuptocancer to second place of most used hashtags, appearing in 16.1% of Tweets, beaten only by the official hashtag of the programme. Although the episode’s celeb line up was long and included a wide range of music stars, such as the Osbourne family, Ed Sheeran and Liam Gallagher, but it was Jeremy Corbyn that generated the biggest chatter with ‘Corbyn’ mentioned in 3,020 posts.

Twitter absolutely loved the episode – 30% of all Tweets contained Positive Sentiment and ‘Admiration’ was the highest detected emotion. The activity soared around the end of the broadcast and reached 562 posts within one minute by Tweeters deeply moved by the campaign in aid to fight cancer. In this one minute ‘Sadness’ dominated the conversation and left the audience in tears.

It goes without saying that Gogglebox, just like #StandUpToCancer action which was echoed in The Last Leg episode, took over our Leaderboard on Friday night with 18.6K Tweets within the Broadcast Window alone.
